What Every Parent Should Know Before Choosing A Dance Studio

What Type Of Dance Floor Is Used?
Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping which can put stress on bones and joints, especially the knees and back. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with a professional “sprung floor”. A sprung floor is a dance floor that rests on a system of shock absorbing, closed cell foam blocks that suspend the floor above your existing, hard unyielding surface.

All three dance rooms at our studio have sprung floors that have 32 shock absorbing, closed cell foam blocks per 4’ x 8’ panel. This benefits students by reducing fatigue and preventing injury that can result from dancing on hard surfaces.

Can I Get Immediate Assistance And Customer Service?
In many studios the studio owner or teacher does the administration work as well as conducting classes. This benefits neither the students or parents as the class suffers when the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, and the parents who can get no customer service if the teacher is in class. It is important to choose a studio that can assist you even if a teacher is in class. Our studio has office staff on hand during all regular class times so you can get immediate assistance.

Are There Additional Performance Opportunities Besides The Annual Recital?
Most studios have an annual recital and that is it. While our students are given performance experience in our year end recital, other students want additional performance opportunities available to them. Due to this fact we also offer a Performance Team and a Competition Team.

Our Performance Team performs at local events in the area such as parades, festivals, and nursing homes. Our Competition Team competes at two to three regional competitions in the Florida area.

What Is The Size Of The Class?
Our studio limits class sizes based on age and level. These smaller class sizes allow students to get more individual instruction from teachers, and as a result progress at a faster rate. A smaller class size also allows our teachers to ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper technique.

How Do I Pay For Lessons?
In many studios the owners and management staff spend hours on collections of past due accounts. This results in high administration costs and takes away valuable time and energy that could be spent on improving dance programs for your child. We require all tuition to be auto paid via credit card or electronic funds transfer from your checking account. Auto payment is a win-win situation. You will never have to worry about late fees or being called for collection of a past due bill, and we can devote this time, energy, and savings towards bringing in better teachers and improving the dance programs for your child.
